Ribbon Spool Box Tutorial

Jill and Kelly make custom party favors and decorations, mostly out of paper.  They are beginning to add upcycled gifts and home decor items to their shop.  Jill loves to Mod Podge everything and often decorate old containers, boxes, tins, etc.  Jill also has a degree in interior design and she also upcycles old furniture and sells it locally.
They were kind enough to share a tutorial with us on making the cutest boxes out of your empty ribbon spools.  But before you download the tutorial, visit their Etsy Store where you can purchase your own and see all of the great things they make too!
Here's a link to their store where they have so many wonderful items!
Here's where you can download the tutorial:

Easy Paper Flower Tutorial

I had made this card for the design team I'm on and wanted to share a tutorial for the flower I made per your request!  Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my other post with the card.  It's so easy!

I've seen many of these flowers made using a brad in the middle to hold it together.  I wanted to do something different with ribbon so here's what I came up with:

You will need some old dictionary pages or pages from an old book.  I use pages from a huge dictionary I bought at a thrift store.  It has the thinner, lighter pages than an ordinary book.  I like the weight of those pages because they are easier to crimp and crinkle.  You also need some ribbon, a stapler and a scallop punch.

 Punch out six scallop circles.

Stack your scallops together and lay your ribbon across them in the middle.  Staple the ribbon to the scallops.

Tie a knot in the ribbon, the staple holds it in place.

Trim the edges of your ribbon.

Crinkle and fluff up each scallop until it's as fluffy as you like.
Enjoy!

mini minialbum idea

I bough some Puma college pants. Puma products has this information thing were is size, prize and all kind of information. It was on my desk and I was going to throw it away when I got an idea. I do a minibook I mean real mini..:)

I just cover it with designer paper and I'm going to decorate it later and meaby but it into my bag as a keychain.

So here is my mini minialbum almost finished. I just trace all lines into designer paper and tape those down.
I used Cosmo Cricet Earth love collection papers for this project.

I hope you like this fun idea that I figered out..

Happy crafting moments.

Decorated Maya Road Tin

You will need:

~empty Maya Road tin

~foam

~some sort of flourish stamp (or you can draw your flourishes freehand)

~Stazon ink

~floss

~needle

~glue dots

~flowers,buttons,brads, ribbon, Stickles to decorate

1. Open the tin. Position some foam under the cover.2.Stamp the flourishes in the corner of the clear window (or draw some freehand).

3. Using a needle or some other tool, poke holes following the pattern of the flourishes.

4. With some thread and needle, stitch the pattern. To end the thread I put a little glue dot on the back. You can tie a knot to end off, if you wish.5. Once the stitching is done, you can embellish with flowers, buttons, brads, ribbon, etc. This is my finished tin. I added Stickles to the flowers and used Liquid Pearls to decorate.I also added a bow to the handle.

Tomato Paste Tubes revealed!

So, here are some photos I took so that you can see how to use the puree/paste tubes for embellishing your projects. You can wash out any tube, really! They all differ slightly inside as to tone and colour.

Cut the top and bottom of the tube off. Cut carefully along one side and open out. Wash any residual paste/cream off, flatten out and dry, CAREFULLY. The edges will be sharp, so don’t cut yourself.

Now here’s the inside, washed, dry and ready to emboss:

Now I trim this (which also sharpens your scissors for you) to fit the Cuttlebug embossing folders, pop it in and run it through my Sizzix. Here’s the one I used last night - I embossed it first with the Hearts folder and then ran it through the stylised flowers. I like both together and separately!

Ready to cut to size, or punch out and use on your projects. You can also decorate these with alcohol inks before cutting and sharpies work well on them, so you can add your own lettering…. your recycled tubes mean you will always have a metal embellishment or the stash to make one whenever you need it.
TIP: I also keep the occasional Chinese Takeaway foil containers for recycling, foil sweet wrappers, which tear nicely… Feel free to share your ideas with me too! I’d love to hear your fave thing to recycle and how you use it!

A note from Julie:~ Thanks Rosie I love all of your creations using the paste tubes it's such a lovely effect and great that you are recycling at the same time !!

Go and check out Rosie's Blog HERE ~ You will find beautiful creations where she has used the paste tubes on her projects and click HERE to see my personal favourite :)
